Due to winter storm events, a large landslide occurred under Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge. This landslide displaced a bridge column which impacted the structure's integrity and caused the bridge to fail. Demolition and reconstruction of the bridge is necessary to restore the highway connection for local residents and travelers.

This project is exempt pursuant to Section 15269(a) of the CEQA Guidelines. The project consists of demolishing and replacing facilities damaged as a result of a disaster in a disaster stricken area in which a state of emergency has been proclaimed by the Governor pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act, commencing with Section 8550 of the Government Code.
