Nevada Irrigation District (NID), in anticipation of new licensing requirements from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Project (FERC Project No. 2266), is proposing to replace the existing gage station on Canyon Creek immediately below French Lake Dam.

Reasons for Exemption
The French Lake Gage work consists of reconstruction of the existing gage structure and will be conducted on the same project site as where the existing gage is located. The location of the new gage structure will only be moved roughly 50 feet downstream from the current structure location. The increase in capacity of the gage from 2.5 and 18 cfs is a negligible increase that will not greatly increase size.
