Document Description
The Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) proposed to install approximately 2,400 feet of 8-inch domestic water main and 36 service connections to residential homes, including the destruction of an existing private well. All proposed work would occur within the existing roadways and parallel to existing sewer lines. The purpose of this project is to consolidate the privately-owned Thermal Mutual Water Company (TMWC) system to CVWD's water system. The TMWC system currently exceeds the state of California's chromium-6 drinking water standard of 10 parts per billion. Consolidation of this system will assure that the area is included in CVWD's compliance plan for the chromium-6 maximum contaminant level and will improve future supply reliability for the homes currently served by the TMWC. Construction is expected to begin in summer/fall 2017 for the duration of 90 calendar days. The project is not located within or immediately adjacent to a conservation area associated with the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan. The cultural resources records and literature search concluded that no cultural resource was discovered within the project area and no further cultural resource management is recommended for the project.
