Hayward Unified School District is proposing demolition of existing structures on-site and reconstruction of school facilities at Harder Elementary School. Improvements would include redeveloped educational spaces, improved recreational facilities, a garden area, and an outdoor dining area. The new facilities would be funded by the Measure L Bond and as such they would not increase the capacity of the school. The proposed project would be constructed in one phase between June 2019 and August 2020. A total of 29,782 sf of existing buildings would be demolished as a part of the project. Equipment used during construction activities would include rubber tired dozers, excavators, graders, and rollers. Construction associated with the project would not include pile driving, rock blasting, or rock crushing.
