NEG - Negative Declaration
DTSC is approving a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Corrective Action, Interim Measures Work Plan Addendum for the G-C Lubricants site, pursuant to regulatory authority granted under chp 6.8 of the health and safety code. The project site is located at 977 and 941 Bransten Rd, San Carlos, CA 94070. The IWMP Addendum describes the excavation and off-site disposal activities. B/c contamination migrated east from the G-C lubricants site, the project also includes the adjacent 941 Bransten Rd, San Carlos property. Project covers less than one acre of the properties. The purpose of this project is to remove soil contaminated with chlorinated volatile organic compounds, particularly chlorinated ethenes adjacent to and east of the G-C lubricants building. Contractors will excavate and transport contaminated soil from 941 Bransten Rd by truck to a licensed disposal facility. The excavation will be backfilled with a clean aggregate base and covered with concrete to the pre-existing grade. Workers will excavate approx 850 cy of soil. The work plan estimates that 93 truck trips are required to transport the soil off-site. Backfilling the excavation will require approx 770 cy of clean fill and 85 truck trips. Site restoration involves placing 37 cy of aggregate base and 37 yards of concrete on the backfilled area to replace the imperious surface and to reestablish the original elevation.
