Document Description
Remove and replace the Frenchman Creek Bridge at Half Moon Bay State Beach to provide park visitors and staff with an improved and safer passage across Frenchman Creek. Work will: To remove existing bridge: Use hand tools to remove all existing bridge connections from concrete abutments making sure to protect, in place, the abutments for connection of new bridge; Use crane to lift/move existing bridge and set down on ground in adjacent staging area; and Use cut-off saw to cut bridge span into two (2) 50' lengths and use crane to place the bridge pieces onto flatbed trucks for haul-off and disposal off-site. For new bridge installation: Use crane to move two (2) new 50' bridge sections to adjacent staging area and splice the bridge sections together to complete a single 100' span; Drill epoxy injected bolts into existing concrete abutments and use crane to pick up and set new single span onto existing abutments and connect new bridge to abutments with epoxy dowels; On new bridge structure, install 3" x 12" x 9' rough sawn wood planks to create a new bridge deck; Use additional 3" x 12" x 9' rough sawn wood planks to create bridge thresholds and transition existing grade to create seamless approach to bridge; and Excavate two (2) 2' x 2' x 3.25' deep holes to install a 4" dia. x 34" (above grade) removable metal bollard in center of bridge approach at both north and south sides of bridge to prevent vehicular traffic.
