Document Description
The purpose of this project is to reinforce a swale used to transmit drainage from the GP Track starting gate into a nearby sediment basin located in the Upper Ranch area of Hollister Hills SVRA. Currently the drainage through this swale damages the road by creating a large rut that terminates at a parking/staging area. To remedy the down cutting and the need for constant maintenance articulating concrete block (ACB) mats (8'x8') will be used to reinforce the swale. Using a dozer the swale will be reshaped and widened to allow for a smooth transition for vehicles traversing the swale. The swale will need to be excavated to a depth of roughly 4 inches or the depth of the ACB mats. Once the swale is formed hand crews will install geo textile fabric to prevent sediment from pumping up through the concrete mats. After the fabric is installed, an excavator will be used to lay the ACB mats in place.
The length of the swale is roughly 200ft. The width of the armored section of the swale will be roughly 24 ft. Total area covered in ACB mats will be 4,800 ft. The swale terminates at a sediment basin where an earthen ramp will be created and lined with ACB mats to transmit runoff from the swale into the basin. Some minor brush removal will occur during this phase.
