- Document Description
- The San Mateo-Foster City School District proposes to build a new gymnasium and locker room with second-story classrooms, and re-purpose four existing rooms as classrooms at Abbott Middle School. The new building would have a gymnasium and locker room on the lower (fields) level, and two classrooms on the upper level accessed from near the inbound driveway. The rooms to be re-purposed as classrooms are currently used as office space and for smaller capacity classes (such as the Resource Specialist Program); those uses would be re-located to smaller existing rooms. The existing gymnasium is considered too small by current standards, and will be used for performing arts when the gymnasium is completed. The student capacity will increase by about 160 students, to a total capacity of 985 students, and increase in capacity of about 19 percent. No demolition or removal of existing structures is proposed.
