Document Description
Motiv Power Systems will develop a smart charger solution and a bi-directional charger solution enabling vehicle grid integration options for medium and heavy duty vehicles. These charger solutions will be onboard the vehicles to reduce the need for external charge station upgrades. The initial smart charger demonstration will take place in Fresno, Bakersfield, Merced, and Stockton. In the second half of the project the bidirectional charger will be demonstrated on a subset of the fleet in Fresno. Each technology solution will have a full year of data collection to validate the technology and economic impact. This project will benefit electric rate payers by enabling commercial fleets to participate in electrical grid-stabilization activities that allow for greater reliability, lower costs, and increased safety for all ratepayers.
