The purpose of this Agreement is to fund research that investigates the mechanisms by which birds are attracted to utility-scale solar energy facilities (i.e., "lake effect hypothesis") and thereby identify potential deterrent or mitigation strategies for reducing bird fatalities. The researchers will be collecting data at existing solar energy facilities or in experimental facilities. The goal is to streamline the permitting process of renewable energy projects in CA.
