Reasons for Exemption
The project will not increase impervious surface at the campus over existing conditions and therefore is not a C.3 regulated project. These are minor structures that are accessory to existing institutional facilities located on the existing school campus. These structures do not increase student capacity. Up to approx 100 lf of trenching and/or boring will be required to connect the solar arrays to the main electrical service enclosure. The project will implement best management practices during construction activities. The project site is not located within an Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone. The project will replace the nine trees planned for removal with eighteen saplings of similar species at a suitable location on the school campus. LED lighting located under the carport structures will be shielded by the solar panels and focus light downwards minimizing the effects of light and glare from this new light source on the school campus.
