This project includes a complete replacement/update of the existing canal intake control structure between Halsey Afterbay and the Wise Canal, including:
Replacement of deteriorated metal control building with new, pre-fabricated building;
Replacement of antiquated, motorized slide gate actuators/operators;
Update electrical service to building;
Replacement of one or both of the existing slide gates, as required; and
Replace and upgrade trash rack (debris grate) to accommodate mechanized cleaning equipment.

Section 15301 Class 1 categorical exemptions include: (d) Restoration or rehabilitation of deteriorated or damaged structures, facilities, or mechanical equipment to meet current standards of public health and safety, unless it is determined that the damage was substantial and resulted from an environmental hazard such as earthquake, landslide, or flood.
