Document Description
This study will temporarily rear juvenile Mojave desert tortoises in head-starting enclosures before releasing them into the wild. Survival of these released tortoises will be analyzed in relation to their size and the ecological resources of the release sites. Studies will be conducted in two geographical regions of the tortoise range to determine the generalizability of the findings. The study aims to improve head-starting methods for desert tortoise and determine cost-effective strategies to promote species recovery.
