Invasive Nutria Survey and Eradication Project
NOE - Notice of Exemption
After eradicated from CA in the 1970s, in March 2017, a nutria, an invasive mammal regulated by both CDFW and CDFA, was captured in Merced County. To prevent further degradation to aquatic habitats, vegetation, and agriculture, surveys for additional nutria and potentially subsequent eradication efforts, will be conducted.

Reasons for Exemption
This project is for the elimination/control of an undesirable species for the protection of native wildlife dependent upon wetland habitat, aquatic and riparian vegetation, and California's agricultural crops. This project type is explicitly identified as an exempt action in 14 CCR 757 (c)(7)(C).
