Document Description
The project proponent is requesting a modification of two existing CUPs which provided land use approval for a racing facility in order to allow for the expansion of the existing Buttonwillow Raceway Park. The proposed expansion would consist of an alteration of use on 23.96 acres within the existing racetrack area and an additional 160.96 acres of expansion area located adjacent to the west of the existing Buttonwillow Raceway Park, in an A District, pursuant to section 19.12.030.D of the Kern County Zoning Ordinance. As proposed, modifications of the existing CUPs would allow for expansions of the existing automobile racing facility by developing an additional 2.5 mi paved track, a 9,000 sf, two story multipurpose building, a 5,600 sf at grade covered patio, a 6,000 sf day garage, ten connection stations for recreational vehicles, and an approximate 11.7 acre paved paddock area. The proposed expansion would accommodate the increased demand for motorcycle and racecar facilities at the existing Buttonwillow Raceway Park.
