Document Description
This project involves the felling and removal of up to 20 dead Monterey & Bishop pine trees located on the grounds of the Point Arena High School. The trees pose a hazard to life safety and property infrastructure due to crown extension above a maintenance area used by staff and a recreational area used by students. The high school is located approximately ½ mile from the ocean and the trees are exposed to the prevailing coastal winds. Falling limbs and debris currently impact the area around the trees. The trees will be removed by felling with chain saws, with slash chipped and distributed on site or else piled & burned on site. Additional project work will include limbing of adjacent green trees. Trunks and large branches will be cut into firewood and removed from the site.
