Document Description
The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority is considering a new site for a permanent materials recovery and transfer station that would serve the existing needs of its members, and has proposed a project that could involve development of facilities at one or more locations within Monterey County. A no build alternative will also be evaluated. Each location would have a combination of unique operations. These uses may include a clean fiber and organics recovery system that would process, treat, and recover reusable elements of the waste stream; a transfer station for receiving, sorting, and initially processing waste materials; a household hazards waste dropoff facility; and maintenance and office building(s). A new structure would be constructed that would house most transfer and process operations.
