Document Description
The project involves the research, development, lab testing, and field demonstration of electricity producing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, a new class of combined cycle natural gas powered, combined cooling, heating, and power, with thermal energy storage. The system replaces the packaged rooftop unit with micro-fuel cell and internal combustion based CCHP-TES solutions, with the potential to permanently reduce peak load in CA while adding on site distributed generation capacity.

Reasons for Exemption
This project involves replacing two existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning rooftop units with two novel electricity producing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units. One unit will be replaced at each of the two sites. This will be minor alteration of the mechanical equipment of each facility which involves negligible expansion of use beyond that existing currently. This project involves data collection and research activities which do not result in a major disturbance to an environmental resource.
