Document Description
SMUD contractors will excavate an existing buried 24-in isolation valve serving a 24-in high pressure natural gas transmission pipeline, then remove the existing valve and replace with a new valve assembly, and backfill with sand and native soil. The contractors will provide commissioning via manufacturer certified representative and provide training and training materials. Furnished materials will include valve, pups, stem, actuator, line break system, controls, power gas tanks, and any incidentals for all equipment and underground installations. Two additional excavations will be made just upstream and downstream of the valve to perform natural gas monitoring in the pipeline, and backfill would consist of sand and native soil. Dewatering of the excavated area may be required to maintain a dry work area and would be completed in accordance with the Central Valley Water Board's General Waiver of Reports of Waste Discharge Requirements (Resolution R5-2013-0145). Should dewatering be required, up to three additional wells may be required to ensure safe working conditions.
