Document Description
The SWRCB - as the lead agency - has issued a water supply permit amendment. In October 2016, Mesa Water District drilled a 1,895-gallon per minute well to replace a 1,850-gallon per minute well that failed during a well rehabilitation at the same site. Mesa water also installed a new pump for the well and cut and capped an existing storm drain lateral. In February 2017 Mesa Water also completed construction on modifications to their Mesa Water Reliability Facility. Mesa water installed sodium bisulfite storage and feed system, including a 2000 gallon storage tank, scrubber tank, vent lines, containment stile, valves, and instruments. The purpose of the SBS system is to remove odor-causing compounds in the source water that are not removed in the MWRF Degasifiers. A Degasifier Clean in place system was installed to remove biofouling. Modification were also made to the existing carbon dioxide feed system that converts the bisulfides in the source water to hydrogen sulfide, and improvements were made to the chlorination controls. This addition will provide improved control of the plant's chloramine residual. The project will improve the aesthetic quality and disinfection control of the MWRF finished water and provide for more efficient operation of facilities.
