Document Description
The Department of Toxic Substances Control approved the New fourth Elementary School Removal Action Workplan to address contaminated soils at the proposed Fourth Elementary School (site) prior to its developmeny as a school. The 6.02-acre rectangular property is located at 1050-1098 Shell Blvd in Foster City. Until recently the Site was developed as a retail shopping center known as Charter Square Shopping Center. The Site is bounded by a church on the north, Shell Boulevard on the east, Back Park Boulevard on the south, and residential properties on the west. The proposed kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school will consists of 23 classrooms and accomodate 450 to 600 students.
The project cleanup activities of the excavation of approximately 1,050 cubic yards of tetrachloroethylene and trichlorothylene impacted soil and the transportation of the impacted soil to an appropriate off-site disposal facility. Major elements of the removal action.
