Document Description
The Tehama-Glenn Unit of CAL FIRE is proposing a fuel reduction project. The Piney Fuel Reduction Project is located within and around the Ponderosa Sky Ranch is located 33 miles east of Red Bluff in Eastern Tehama County. Access is via State Route Highway 36E. The community is located along a ridge top in the eastern edge of the Cascade Range conifer belt. Elevation ranges from 3100-3400 ft. The vegetation type is a mixed hardwood conifer forest containing ponderosa pine, cedar and a variety of oaks. The understory consists of primarily chaparral and manzanita. The Sky Ranch is identified on the Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map as a community in an area of high risk for large scale vegetation fires.
