CAL FIRE currently leases property from the Butte Valley Irrigation District (BVID) to operate the Macdoel Forest Fire Station. This lease covers (3.83 acres) and six buildings, consisting of an apparatus building, captain's office, barracks messhall, storage shed and various out-buildings. The BVID is not interested in selling the land to CAL FIRE and several lease extensions have been granted.
