Replace Food Lockers
NOE - Notice of Exemption
Replace 50 food lockers with new, larger bear-proof metal food lockers along the main road campsites #20-38, Upper Loops campsites #39-64 and all Riverside and Environmental Camps at Castle Crags State Park to create a safer environment for park visitors and reduce wildlife dependency on human food. Work will:
Remove 50 existing food lockers. Remove 50 existing 40"x28" concrete pads supporting the existing food lockers. Excavate one 22" deep x 12" wide hole for each new food locker. Install a 3" diameter steel pipe in each hole and set and fill with concrete. Use U bolts to attach the 41" tall x 4' wide x 37" deep food locker to the pipe.
Project consists of the replacement of existing structures where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity, included as replacement of existing facilities on the Parks and Rec list of exempt activities, in accordance with CCR 153400.4; and the minor public alteration in the condition of land and/or vegetation which does not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
