Document Description
Replace 50 food lockers with new, larger bear-proof metal food lockers along the main road campsites #20-38, Upper Loops campsites #39-64 and all Riverside and Environmental Camps at Castle Crags State Park to create a safer environment for park visitors and reduce wildlife dependency on human food. Work will: Remove 50 existing food lockers. Remove 50 existing 40"x28" concrete pads supporting the existing food lockers. Excavate one 22" deep x 12" wide hole for each new food locker. Install a 3" diameter steel pipe in each hole and set and fill with concrete. Use U bolts to attach the 41" tall x 4' wide x 37" deep food locker to the pipe.
