Reasons for Exemption
Drilling the dewatering wells consists of minor temporary site disturbance (setting up equipment for construction and minor site grading of approximately 16 feet by 60 feet) intended to remove ground water which is necessary to slow the movement of the Portuguese Bend landslide for the benefit and safety of the public. There also exists above ground pipe that will be replaced in place with a more durable material. The new well house covers will be very small approximately 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet each and the photovoltaic panels are approximately 10 feet by 17 feet each.
