The project will be a comprehensive assessment of in-conduit hydropower generation potential in California and the development of a guidebook and a business case assessment tool to assist municipal, agricultural, and industrial water purveyors with the cost effective implementation of in-conduit hydropower generation projects. The guidebook and the business case assessment tool will provide an invaluable knowledgebase for municipal, agricultural and industrial agencies that are considering capturing hydrokinetic/hydrostatic energy and integrating in-conduit hydropower into the existing energy mix and will assist these agencies to make informed decisions.

The recipient will collect data, review literature, gather information from experts, and performance evaluation activities to develop the assessment, guidebook and business tool. For these reasons, the proposed project will not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource.
