The State Water Board is amending approximately 3,000 permits for public water systems to require that public water systems that serve one or more K-12 schools coordinate with local schools to develop a lead sampling plan for any school that requests assistance, and to collect up to five lead samples at faucets that are routinely used by staff and students.
