Document Description
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to the National Fishery Resource Analysis and Monitoring Division pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 2081(a) for research in California state waters. The Section 2081(a) permit authorizes NWFSC to incidentally take Longfin Smelt, Coho Salmon, and Chinook Salmon during the course of its research surveys subject to terms and conditions set forth in the permit. The prupose of this research has two components, a summer and winter Pacific hake survey and groundfish bottom trawl survey. The hake surveys are to assess and characterize hake aggregations and distribution for the Pacific hake stock assessemtn and further biomass surveys. The groudnfish trawl survey is used to to collect fishery-independent data that sill be used to assess the status and trends of commerciall important species.
