The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) as the lead agency will be issuing a water supply permit. Community Recycling built a 2,200 gallon per minute well in September 1995. In 2015 Recology, Inc. took over the lease that Community Recycling had with Lamont Public Utilities District, which covers the land, facility, and water sysem. The storage tank was installed the same year. Recology, Inc. applied for a permit from Kern County so they could replace their administrative building and cafeteria for their 75 employees. Kern County requires a drinking water permit be issued for the well and tank, before thay would approve their permit.
