Document Description
DTSC is considering approval of five Removal action work plans for the former Naval Petroleum Reserve No. 1 (NPR-1), CA, (hereinafter "the Site"). The five RAWs are for Areas of Concern (AOC) 033-007, AOC 048, AOC 056 DU06, AOCs 060 and 104 (combined), and AOC 125-013. The RAWs contain proposals to excavate impacted soil with concentrations of chemicals of concern (COCs) at levels that may pose a risk to human health and the environment. DTSC has regulatory authority to approve this action pursuant to CA Health and Safety Code, Ch. 6.5. The US Dept. of Energy has also identified an additional 53 AOCs or AOC subareas within the former NPR-1 which will require remediation and preparation of subsequent RAWs or RAPs. DTSC has regulatory authority for these subsequent approvals pursuant to CA Health and Safety Code, Ch. 6.5.
