Document Description
The City of Salinas is proposing to make improvements to Alvin Drive and Linwood Drive in support of the City's goals to implement the Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) program. The concept for Alvin Drive and Linwood Drive improvements is to create a multi-modal "complete street" corridor by installing bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and to install limited traffic control devices. Proposed improvements include reduction of vehicular travel lanes (road diet) and the addition of buffered bicycle lanes on Alvin Drive between Main Street and Natividad Road; installation of bicycle lanes and sharrows on Linwood Drive, Maryal Drive, and Chaparral Street; installation of pedestrian ramps and crosswalks at key locations along Alvin Drive, Linwood Drive, and Maryal Drive; and installation of a traffic signal at Alvin Drive and El Dorado Drive.
