Document Description
DWR staff will oversee the installation of twelve exploration borings at six locations by a drilling subcontractor at the theft of abutment of Castaic Dam. All borings are located in disturbed areas the main boat launch parking lot or access roads. Work is being conducted to determine the current geologic condition of Castaic Dam's left abutment and to provide monitoring capability to evaluate any future changes to left abutment's geology.

The State Water Project significant and important services to many Californians. This project is exempt to because it involves data collection without major disturbance to an environmental resource. This project will not result in impacts to special status species or habitat. Because this activity can be implemented without any significant environmental Impacts, the Categorical Exemption Class 6 will be used for CEQA compliance.
