Document Description
WCWD and RID have completed the CEQA process for a project titled Western Canal Water District and Richvale Irrigation District Water Transfers from 2018 to 2022. This document provides coverage for WCWD and RID transfers between 2018 and 2022. In 2018, WCWD proposes to transfer to DRWD and KCWA (collectively Buyers) up to 34,122.0 acre-feet of water made available by idling 10,340 acres of land historically in agricultural production from May through September. The DWR will transfer water made available in May and June in Lake Oroville and convey up to 10,340 acre feet water to Buyers between July and September in 2018. The point of transfer where transfer is made available will be at Thermalito Afterbay on the Feather River. This transfer will flow through the natural river channels to the Sacrament-San Joaquin Delta, where it will be pumped at the SWP Banks Pumping Plant in compliance with all applicable regulatory restrictions and governing SWP operations. DW will deliver the transfer water to the Buyers' service area. The transfer water is intended to alleviate water shortages within the Buyers' service area and would not support new development.
