The (LSA) Land and Streambed Alteration notification is for the processing of a CDFW Section 1600 MOU for the channel maintenance activities on the improved channels, unimproved channels, leveed channels, drain ditches, and toe-drains and other waters that are intercepted or related to the Friant-Kern Canal. The work areas are specified and described in the Section 1600 binder attached to the Initial Study. The maintenance activities include: (A) Debris or obstruction removal; (B) Silt, sand or sediment removal; (C) Maintenance of channel capacity; (D) Vegetation control: d-1 Mechanical control; d-2 Aquatic vegetation control; d-3 Chemical vegetation control; (E) Repair of existing erosion control work; and (F) Minor erosion control work and revegetation. Mitigation measures for environmental and wildlife protection, erosion control, and water quality are implemented to avoid significant adverse effects and to mitigate impacts to less than significant.
