Document Description
The project proposes to expand the existing Central Utility Plant (CUP) with the construction of new, upgraded CUP facilities that would provide approximately 6,000 additional tons of chilled water cooling capacity to the La Jolla Campus. The proposed project would include a building to house two 3,000-ton chillers and associated pumps, controls, and accessories; all electrical distribution equipment; and a telecommunications room and an outdoor utility yard to include two cooling towers. The CUP Expansion facilities would be constructed as a 14,000 gross square foot (GSF), one-story, concrete structure with a basement. The new structure would have a rectangular footprint and would be 52 feet wide in the east–west direction and 165 feet long in the north–south direction. A concrete pad for a future Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank would also be included. The facilities would also include a restroom.
