Document Description
Note: Review Per Lead
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power proposes to remove from service generating units 1 and 2 at Scattergood Generating Station and replace their generating capacity with a natural gas-fired combustion turbine generator and a steam turbine generator operating in tandem to substantially increase efficiency in relation to fuel consumption and power production. The new generating units would utilize air cooled condensers, allowing SGS to completely eliminate the use of ocean water for generator cooling. The proposed project would include a 10-MW battery storage component to store electricity generated during low demand periods that can be used later to support peak electricity demand.
