Document Description
General Dynamics NASSCO has proposed a like for like pile replacement and subsequent fender replacements along the support pier at Berths V and VI. The steel and concrete piers are inspected regularly, and presently the fender systems at Berths V and VI are aged and at the end of their serviceable life expectancy. Without properly functioning fender systems, berthed vessels could exert sufficient stress onto the pier and support pilings, creating damage and safety issues for the pier structure itself as well as the surrounding environment. The proposed removal of the existing fender system, and replacement with the identical new fender system will protect the existing pier and provide for safe moorings as well as operations elsewhere on the pier.
