Document Description
The project will redesign a section of Malibu Hill Road and add a median that will filter out pollutants from urban runoff through a bio-media. Malibu Hills Road has been identified as a street that lacks catch basins. This causes runoff to travel for elongated periods until it reaches one. The longer the runoff travels along the road, the more contaminants it acquires. The best solution was to add a bio-retention center median which will consist of bio-media mass that will help filter out these contaminants as it travels down the street, the medial will be lined with an impermeable liner and underdrain system that will convey storm water to a nearby catch basin. The medial will reduce the discharge of sediment, bacteria and nutrients that enter the local bodies of water.
