Document Description
The goal of the project is to increase channel capacity over time in a 3 mile reach located at the confluence of the North Fork and South Fork Elk River. This reach has nuisance flooding issues due to continued aggradation of fine sediment from upstream sources and increasing channel and floodplain confinement in part caused by willow and blackberry encroachment and associated roughness. The project proposes to increase channel capacity by reducing channel roughness and increasing scour. Channel roughness will be reduced by the removal of willow branches outside of the wetted channel using hand tools and chainsaws. In addition, the project proposes to remove blackberry and willows round the North Fork Concrete County Bridge.
