Document Description
The project is limited to the rehabilitation of a bridge over Churn Creek on Old Alturas Road. The existing bridge is a 4-span reinforced concrete bridge that is 143-feet long and 28-feet wide and was constructed in 1964. The bridge is too narrow for current traffic conditions and does not have adequate sidewalks or shoulders for nonmotorized traffic. Additionally, there is evidence of scour around the pier walls and abutments. Rehabilitation will include widening the bridge deck, pier walls, and abutments, and making improvements to the road approaches. The new bridge deck will measure 67-feet wide and will include a 14-foot wide center turn lane and two 12-foot wide travel lanes, each with an 8-foot wide shoulder and a 6.5-foot wide sidewalk with a barrier.
