Document Description
Stanislaus County is implementing a Discretionary Well Permitting and Management Program pursuant to its Groundwater Ordinance, which was adopted in November 2014 to promote sustainable groundwater management in the unincorporated areas of the County. The project consists of continued discretionary well permitting and regulation activities that will be implemented after the PEIR is adopted to assure that groundwater extraction complies with the Groundwater Ordinance's prohibition against unsustainable groundwater extraction. The purpose of the PEIR is to streamline the environmental review process for subsequent individual well permit applications, and to help refine the program and make it more robust through environmental analysis and assignment of program level mitigation, as needed.
