Document Description
The project is a development plan for a tier III winery in the Lompoc area. There are currently 192 acres of producing vineyards on the premises, with 27 acres planned on the subject parcel. The parcel is part of an approximately3,490 acre premise under Williamson Act contract number 72-AP-175. Currently, the owners produce approximately 3,000 cases annually of Hilt wines and 5-6,000 cases of Jonata wines at a facility in the city of Buelton. The proposed Hilt Winery would increase the production to an initial phase of 40,000 cases, with ultimate production of approximately 50,000 cases from grapes grown on site and from other properties within Santa Barbara county. The owners O2 license would be transferred and all 50,000 cases would be produced on site, with all off site production ceasing immediately. Prior to an increase in production to more than 40,000 cases, the owner shall document to the county that there are sufficient acres of vineyards on the subject parcel such that 20% of case production is from grapes grown on the parcel. This may be accomplished by, for example, a lot adjustment with another planted area under 72-AP-175, an increase in production from existing plantings on the parcel, or planting of an additional approximately two acres within a previously disturbed area of the parcel.
