Document Description
The County is proposing to seismically retrofit the existing bridge on Avila Beach Drive over San Luis Obispo Creek in the community of Avila Beach, in southwestern San Luis Obispo County. The bridge is located approximately .03-mile east of the intersection of Avila Beach Drive with Ana Bay Road, 0.12 mile west of the intersection of Avila Beach Drive with First St, and 2.2 miles due west of US Hwy 101. The proposed retrofit will increase the strength of the bridge at the hinges over two of the piers and at the abutments by replacing the existing cable restrainers and internal shear keys, which will more effectively transfer seismic loads through the expansion joints.
