Project is located in the Salinas River Watershed, an area of approx. 4,600 sq. miles. The watershed is 303(d) listed as impaired. The Project is located adjacent to Atascadero Creek, a tributary to the Salinas River. All storm water flowing from the project leads directly or indirectly to the creek. The goal of the project is to slow, spread, and sink stormwater runoff through the following implementation of low impact development (LID) practices; infiltration and retention systems, vegetated swales, pervious pavers, and bioretention planters. The project has an educational program developed based upon the NExt Generation Science Standards and will implement hands on learning through interactive LID practices.
