EMWD's Oliver tank is one of the districts oldest potable water storage tanks, constructed in the early 1950's. as part of the District's on-going effort to provide reliable water service, tanks are inspected on a three-year cycle. The effort includes internal and external visual inspection of the tank and appurtenances. In mid-2015, after reviewing tank inspection reports, the Oliver Tank was identified as a tanking ranking in poor condition. Further evaluation was completed and recommendations for rehabilitation were recommended. The proposed project will include structural modifications and recoating of the ceiling and partial upper wall sections of the tank.
Implementation of the proposed project would result in minor alterations to existing equipment and existing facilities, and would not result in increased capacity to existing facilities. This project meets the criteria for existing operations for Eastern Municipal Water District under the categorical exemption provided for within CEQA Guidelines §15301.
