The Project will contribute to the recovery of the California endangered Santa Cruz cypress and Butano Ridge cypress by investigating the genetics, seed morphology, and seed germination of the species. The permit issued by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for the project includes measures to ensure that existing populations of Santa Cruz cypress and Butano Ridge cypress are not impacted.
