This project involves planning work including design plans and specifications, environmental review, rate study review, and the drilling of a pilot borehole for the proposed City of Escalon Well No. 1 Site improvements that includes a new well, removal of existing treatment equipment, the installation of a new generator set, and upgrade to existing electrical facilities. The improvements are needed to comply with regulatory requirements, meet system demands, and improve system operations and efficiency. The project will involve ground-breaking activity at the existing site for the drilling of the pilot borehole that will assist in the design of the new well.
The pilot borehole will involve drilling activity for the purposes of information collection to evaluate the quantity and quality of water available at the site. Will not result in impacts to environmental resources or be in an area of hazardous or critical concern. Drilling will only occur within existing pre-disturbed, developed areas on City property, CCR, Title 14, Article 19, Section 15306, Class 6 provides for a categorical exemption.
