Document Description
The purpose of this project is to maintain a series of storm water control devices in PCSVRA to reduce/manage the sediment discharge off site. Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area's water quality tools include a series of twelve sediment basins which are designed to slow storm water runoff, and allow for a reduction of suspended sediment before flowing to the coyote creek waterway. Annual maintenance of these sediment basins includes the use of heavy equipment during the day summer season to remove accumulated sediment from the basin bottoms. Sediment may also be removed from rock-lined culvert channels in the Hangtown track facility. The total area with potential to be disturbed is approximately 200,000 square feet or 4.5 acres, though not all basins are maintained in the same year.
