Document Description
SMUD proposes to test the removal of the coating material from three 230 kilovolt transmission poles with 69kV underbuilt. The poles were originally installed in late 1970s and the paint to be removed contains lead. The proposed action is not undertaken to address the potential release of lead paint, but rather to perform a traditional form of maintenance and prevent further corrosion of the existing poles. The effects of the lead paint removal and pole repainting on the environment have been evaluated indicating the project would comply with air quality and worker exposure regulations and would have no significant adverse effects on any other resources, as described below. No impacts are expected to occur to agricultural resources, geology, land use/planning, mineral resources, population and housing, public services, and recreation because of the implementation of the project.
