Document Description
As part of the fire control infrastructure, CALFIRE maintains approximately 320 miles of fire control roads within San Diego County. These roads provide dependable access to remote areas throughout the county, serve as containment lines, and in some cases as secondary evacuation routes. Common maintenance projects include road surface grading, filling of eroded ruts, repair of existing water drainage facilities, debris removal from existing culvert system, removal of obstructions within the roadway such as rocks and fallen trees, and the breaching of roadside berms.
